Danica Rubenstein comes to The Front Porch from the Board of Education for Monongalia County Schools in West Virginia but is no stranger to Savannah.

Savannah, GA (May 31, 2024) – The Front Porch has announced the hire of a new executive director to lead the growth of the organization that has served nearly 2,000 families since its 2019 founding.

Danica Rubenstein joined The Front Porch on April 29, 2024. Rubenstein had been the Director of Attendance for Monongalia County Schools Board of Education in West Virginia since 2010. Before that, she worked as a Juvenile Probation Officer for the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals for 11 years. Rubenstein holds a master’s degree in School Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling from West Virginia University, a degree in Leadership Studies from Marshall University, and Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice and Sociology. Among other roles, Rubenstein served on the State Advisory Group member for the West Virginia Education seat appointed by former Governor Joe Manchin and a two-term Federal Advisory Committee for Juvenile Justice (West Virginia Seat) appointment serving under the US Congress and President of the United States

For nearly 20 years, Rubenstein has been traveling to Savannah with her two daughters, Celestial and Molly, (“the absolute loves and joy of my life “) and fiancé’ Dr. Joshua Dolin. Rubenstein enjoys music (jazz/folk/alternative/classical), art, the sea and traveling. Her passion is connecting with people, forging relationships and working with youth/families.  Rubenstein stated, “To be a part of The Front Porch family is an honor and great privilege and I’m so excited to be a part of the mission here!  I am so grateful to finally be a part of this community that I have loved so much, and I pray I serve Savannah and her families well in my tenure here.”

Established in 2019, The Front Porch is a community-based risk reduction program designed to identify children and families at risk of becoming involved with the Juvenile Court system. Youth referred to The Front Porch are assessed to identify any needs, concerning behaviors or situations that may warrant intervention. The Front Porch staff will then connect youth and families with appropriate services to address those needs.
